We have the below vacancy available in our Organisation:

The purpose of the Senior Specialist: Media Relations role based within Corporate Affairs, is:
To play a key role in supporting all elements of the Media Relations portfolio, including the implementation of the media relations strategy.
Receive, analyse and coordinate responses to media enquiries
Manage relations with the media and serve as the primary point of contact with internal stakeholders and media stakeholders.
Propose media pieces that differentiate Vodacom from its competitors.
Develop tailored communication plans about Vodacom products and service developments, taking into account key aspects of the product or services, anticipated impact on present and potential customers and media launches.
Develop PR agency briefings and manage agency work-flow where relevant.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, media outlets and manage an up-to-date media list.
Timely management of media enquiries, including preparing appropriate responses.
Monitor media landscape and work with service providers in collating media coverage of Vodacom in South Africa and cross all operating countries.
Monitor and provide analysis on traditional and social media activity when there media attention on an issue or crisis escalates, as well as provide holding statements.
Maintain and enhance the Media page on Vodacom’s corporate website (www.Vodacom.com)
Proactively manage and position Vodacom's marketing efforts in close collaboration with the Marketing team
Pitch Vodacom stories to journalists and media.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
In-depth knowledge of local media landscape;
Good communication skills – being able to clearly present recommendations and insight to both internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills – experience in writing press releases and leveraging content across relevant Social Media platforms.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills – must be able to interpret corporate information, financial and economic information.
Good command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint – must be able use all three to develop press releases, presentations and analyse data.
Project management;

Key performance indicators:
Media engagement sessions, roundtables
PR plan for Vodacom products and services
36 press releases/targeted articles
Monthly (traditional and social) media coverage report with recommendations for improvement.
Monthly review and update of content on the Vodacom website.
Executive engagement / thought leadership programme
