The Role
The
DTH Field Technician role is customer focused providing support with
technical knowledge and recommendations to make sure Sandvik DTH rock
tools are being used in the right way.
The
Global DTH Field Technician is accountable for the input and
verification processes within the Sandvik DTH Tools’ Product Development
Process. They are responsible for translating the customer’s needs into
technical specifications that serve as the input into the development
team’s activities. In addition, they are responsible for field testing
and validating the research & development designs using applied
engineering methodologies.
The
role is project focused with the purpose of developing application
driven technologies in coordination with the Sandvik Rock Tools R&D
development teams. The role may require applying the engineer’s
expertise in any region deemed critical to the project mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all reasonable steps are taken to certify all employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment. This includes compliance with Sandvik safety management program.
- Provide needed support to the local Rock tools team to become self-sufficient in terms of technical expertise and application knowledge
- Trouble shooting – In the event where local rock tools service team is not able to solve
- Technical support for local SA rock tools technicians
- Drilling operation audits, recommendations and suggestions
- Provide on-site technical consulting that delivers reduced drilling costs through optimized engineered products and application methodologies.
- Field test follow up
- Product demonstration, new product introduction
- Product training in respect of maintenance, service and usage to the SA Rock Tools technicians
- Monitor and give feedback on competition activities, products, price, etc.
- Input, product offering and gaps
- Input, technical documentation and training material
- Feedback to Product Management and R&D regarding current product performance
- Provide onsite support for testing and validation of critical R&D test hammers and bits.
- Liaise with the Sales Areas, R&D, and Product Management to establish bit testing procedures, matrices, and follow up reporting requirements.
- Create Test Plans for R&D test hammers and bits to quantify and minimize product risk.
- Input and feedback regarding potential case stories
Minimum Skills and Qualifications
- Grade 12 or Equivalent qualification
- Office Suite Literacy
- English proficiency

This
role will be based in South Africa. It is anticipated that up to 5-10
longer trips have to be done per year and will be made to different
countries. An extensive amount of travel is expected, with over 50%
travel time away from home. We are looking for someone who is passionate
